The biggest complaints customers have in the window, door and window coverings industry is Poor Workmanship. Included in this issue is being certain that what was bought is what is delivered and completed. Other reoccurring problems are that the company is no longer in business, and now the customer has no one to take care of their after sales needs.

The solution is simple, deal with a company with a solid reputation. Deal with a company that is local. Deal with a company who has the backing of the manufacturers.

At Fasada, we welcome our customers to contact our suppliers to hear their word on us, and to gain confidence in Fasada.

You obviously do not want to pick up broken pieces of glass with your bare hands. Common sense tells you to put on heavy leather or safety gloves before handling any glass, broken or not. First try to sweep up or vacuum as much of the broken glass as possible without having to touch it.

If you are working on a home remodelling project, make sure your children and pets are outside of the area where the broken glass is before you begin your cleanup project.

If at any point you have a window that breaks, first make sure to check for any broken glass inside your home, within the frame of the window and outside of the window area on the ground.

The best way to clean up small pieces of glass is to use several thicknesses of wet paper towels and then throw them out. We do not recommend you use any cloth napkins, towels, sponges or ordinary mops you will reuse, as they can trap tiny glass pieces and cause future damage when being reused.

To dispose of any broken glass, carefully put it in a durable container (such as a box or container) and then label “broken glass”. Do not put any broken glass pieces in plastic bags.

If glass is broken in your window frame, do not try to “knock out” the remaining glass out of the frame. Carefully remove the loose and fallen pieces of glass, then make the necessary arrangements to replace or repair the window unit.

You can also cover the window to help prevent additional accidents or stop any weather from coming inside the home. One can tape cardboard or heavy plastic over the opening as a temporary fix.

If the glass in one of your windows breaks, be sure to replace it properly. Some windows have insulating glass units, others may be single pane. A replacement glass unit should be ordered and installed that matches your current one in the window.

Another option if your window is older, is to have the entire window replaced. You can then call Fasada Home Remodelling for a free in home consultation at 905-827-3331 or email us at

Upgrading the interior of your window with millwork products creates a major focal point for any room. The combination of mouldings, pilasters and trim to highlight an interior window is a fast and easy do it yourself project, with plenty of payback.

As part of a recent Fasada Home Remodelling window replacement project in Oakville, our installers Tony and Marty used a combination of two different types of wood mouldings to create a unique detail throughout the home. Instead of just trimming out the window with casing, they used a moulding with a backbend profile, installed it opposite to it’s intended way, and created a unique window sill feature to accent the window. Simple. easy and beautiful.

The use of decorative millwork in a creative combination, can save a great deal of installation time. The highly-detailed trim only needs to be cut to length and installed.

At Fasada Home Remodelling, we offer a wide range of decorative trim options both for the interior and exterior of you window and/or door. For a free in home quotation on new windows and doors, and to explore all the possible ways to accent your interior, call us at 905-827-3331 or email us at sales@fasada.ca
